I am very excited to announce that as of 1 August of this year, I will be joining the Department of Greek, Latin, and Classical Studies at Bryn Mawr College as an Assistant Professor of Latin literature, culture, and receptions.

My focus in Latin will be on classical poetry, while my teaching and research in ancient receptions will remain centered on science fiction, fantasy, and horror (all in literature, film, and games); on Underworld journeys and other depictions of the afterlife; and on cultural histories of the senses, including silence. Some details remain TBD, but that's the setup overall. (For anyone interested, my updated CV may be downloaded here.)

It will be bittersweet saying goodbye to DC and to the students and colleagues I've had the pleasure to work with at Howard University. Washington will of course also always be where Jenny and I started to raise Abraham! But we're looking forward to this big move for our little family, in progress for sometime this coming summer, and are excited to discover what it means to call Philadelphia 'home.' Anassa kata!
